Penguin Watch is a citizen based science website trying to understand the lives of penguins by inviting individuals to mark adult penguins, chicks and their eggs in images taken from nesting sites around Antarctica.
The instructions are easy to follow, where it basically involves clicking on the centre of each ‘target’, where sometimes there may be up to 30 or more ‘targets’ to single out.
As penguins are considered at the top of the food chain, any variations in their population could represent larger changes to the dynamics of the Antarctic ecosystem. This project will help to form a baseline of information against which to measure future change.
