Achievements
Bearing in
mind that micro-volunteering is not exactly on the
tip of everybody’s tongue, we just thought you might
like to know the inroads we’re making in order to
increase awareness about what ordinary people can
achieve from the comfort of their own home in just
under 30 minutes - whilst still dressed in their
pyjamas. |

How To Make
A Difference Competition
October
2009 - Honoured
with Runner Up award in a UK nationwide
competition designed for ‘small projects that are
making a BIG difference in society’. Panel of judges
stated ‘potential to grow and create change’ – which
we thought was quite nice of them to say so! |

Regular Micro Volunteer
Newspaper Feature
January
2010 - The
opportunities on Help From Home are not your traditional
ones and it is our intention to approach newspapers with a
proposal of including a weekly / fortnightly 'Micro
Volunteering Spot', describing briefly a micro volunteer
action from Help From Home. In this respect such a regular
article is now being featured on the
i-volunteer
website, as of Jan 2010 - the first of many, we hope. |

Funding
 February
2010 - Help From Home is now an
UnLtd
project, funded by
4iP
an initiative of Channel Four Television Corporation. |

Helping 'Care' Services
March
2010 - In response to a growing interest from
organisations that care for the housebound, Help From Home
set up a scheme to promote awareness of the benefits of
micro volunteering in the hope that it may empower the
housebound to believe in their self worth, confidence and
esteem and thus improve their lives. |

Micro Volunteering
Survey
April
2010 - Help From Home conducted what is believed to be
the first ever survey into the micro volunteering arena.
It's intention was to be a snap shot of the current playing
field and to be used as a springboard to dig deeper as part
of a further research project. |

Help
From Work - Change The World In Just Your Lunch Break
May
2010 - Part of Help From Home's
Vision is to encourage office workers to use part of
their lunch break in a more meaningful way. In this respect,
Help From Home added a new
webpage to kick start this campaign into life. Check
out the tasty bite sized micro volunteer actions you can do
to benefit worthy causes in your lunch break! |

WCVA -
Helping to Promote Micro Volunteering
June
2010 - Volunteer Centres on the high street do
not address the micro-volunteering angle at all. Have
managed to obtain co-operation of
WCVA
(Wales Council for Voluntary Action) to promote micro
volunteering to all of the Welsh high street volunteer
centres. This is a mini breakthrough, as they are the first
main UK voluntary body to acknowledge and promote micro
volunteering. |

Volunteer Centres
Ongoing
- Help From Home is running a campaign to encourage high
street volunteer centres to add micro-volunteering opportunities onto their
databases. Check out this
Volunteer Centre
page to see how we’re doing - there's already some on board! |
